The cream of the local crop will line up for the Wave Rock Weekender, a four-day music and camping festival to be held in Hyden next month.

Psych-rock heroes Pond, Great Gable and Psychedelic Porn Crumpets plus indie pop favourites Spacey Jane and San Cisco are among the WA talent making the four-hour trek east from Perth along the Brookton Highway to the Shire of Kondinin.

The huge local line-up for the 15th instalment of Wave Rock Weekender, which runs September 25-28, also includes singer-songwriters Carla Geneve and Stella Donnelly.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow to the festival, which also features a 24-hour cinema, yoga, a natural salt pool and projections onto Wave Rock among the non-musical offerings.

“The festival is making extra room to ensure it can run in either phase four or phase five restrictions safely and to make sure it can maximise the feelings and frivolity that the festival is known for,” he said on Tuesday.

“This one will be epic and a gathering of WA’s finest bands and people at one of the best weekends on earth.”

Other acts appearing include hip-hop veterans Downsyde, Fremantle music luminary Shiny Joe Ryan and the Sky Dolphins, Seychelles-born roots musician Grace Barbe and party rockers Southern River Band, with more to be announced.

Wave Rock Weekender is a rare positive note in a music industry reeling from the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s fair to say that the vast majority would be keen to put 2020 in the bin,” Mr Sloan said.

“But, unfortunately we can’t. We can however, encourage you to forget about the second wave and leave your worries at the start of the Brookton Highway for the 15th Wave.”

Tickets for all three nights are $329, including booking fees.
