Carousels, climbing nets and even a zip-line are some of the exciting features Albany families can choose for Centennial Precinct’s new playground.

The City of Albany is putting the choice in the hands of those who will use the space the most, inviting families to vote on 15 designs for a new playground near the hockey grounds before July 19.

The City is asking the public to consider whether the design can support many users at once, allow for different types of play, what they think are the most exciting features, and whether it fits a sporting theme.

City reserves manager Jacqui Freeman said the variety of designs were submitted based on budget and key criteria.

“The City aims to provide unique experiences across our playgrounds to increase the vibrancy of our recreation areas for the whole community,” she said.

Key criteria include incorporating interactive/imaginative play elements, multi-zones to allow for all ages, the inclusion of balancing and adventure play, and an overarching sports theme.

“Most importantly, we want to make the playground accessible to those with limited abilities.”

The playground is expected to be completed by December.
