Manypeaks and Royals to face off in Albany and Districts Cricket Association under-17s grand final

Royals finished the Albany and Districts Cricket Association under-17 season on top of the ladder after finishing 49-run winners over Collingwood Park on Sunday.

The Lions notched their eighth win of the season to finish well clear on top ahead of Manypeaks.

Ryley Valli led the way in the Lions’ victory, whacking a superb 71 from 63 balls that included nine fours and three sixes at Turf East.

Valli and Devon Jefferis both retired after opening the batting together, while Caleb Haua (39) and Riley Bessen (28) contributed well.

Jefferis was the last batter removed for 59 off 50 that included seven fours and two sixes as his side posted 285.

Jed Schwarzbach (3-29) and O’Shea Durack (3-44) did the damage with the ball for Park.

Park made a good fist of the run chase but were behind the required rate and ran out of overs on 9-236.

Rory Luscombe made 48, supported by O’Shea Durack (42).

Jed Schwarzbach (38) and Harvey Taylor (35no) also contributed but Park fell to a sixth loss of the season.

Clay Michael (2-28) and Davey Wignall (2-32) were impressive with the ball for the Lions.

Railways finished their season on a positive note, prevailing by 121 over Manypeaks at Turf South.

The Tigers set up the win with a terrific batting performance, with their opening three batters Billy O’Meara (54), Milan Jaggi (50) and Mohit Jaggi (52) all retiring not out as they reached 200 without losing a wicket.

Cooper Edwards added 40 and Lachlan Tindale made 31 as the Tigers finished on 3-286, while Riley Wood snared 2-40 for Peaks.

In the run chase Peaks could make only 165, with Angus McSweeney top-scoring with 39 and Cameron Walsh and Wood adding 22 each.

Mohit Jaggi snared 3-18 for the Tigers in their second win of the season.

The under-17s grand final is on March 7, between the Lions and Peaks.

The under-14s play their grand final on March 5.

The under-10s finish on March 4 and under-12s on March 5.
