Division 2 skipper Geoff Oliver produced an outstanding display of power sailing aboard his Bull design Excitabull in last Saturday’s King George Sound event.

Club commodore Susette Evans, who crewed on the yacht, said afterwards that they were doing more than 14 knots on spinnaker runs which was quite exciting to say the least.

Oliver led the six yacht fleet out into the Sound for several legs before entering the harbour for the last three where he continued to increase his lead as he headed for the finish line.

Gary Eaton after a sluggish start with Faster was picking up the pace but couldn't get within cooee of Excitabull and remained in second throughout.

Stephen Brown was doing well with his smaller vessel Mary Maitland and at times was matching it with Faster.

Bob Giles had rigging trouble before the start and sailed cautiously.

Josh Hughes allowed Chris Oldham to take the tiller of Joker and it showed some glimpses of its potential.

Neil Worrell with some new crew on Zuri tried valiantly to stay in touch with the tail-enders but couldn't make any inroads.

Oliver knew he had to distance himself well ahead as he had a huge handicap.

He did it easily being 16 minutes in front of Faster to take a first and fastest.

Eaton was second and Brown proved his worth by taking third place in a fine display with his faithful Mary Maitland.

In Flying Fifteens skippers Simon and Aileen Lucas were joined by Wayne North in his newly acquired Frequent Flyer.

Simon Lucas won the start and quickly established a handy lead with FForever Young.

He was followed by Aileen Lucas in Crazy who couldn't match the speed of FForever Young and stayed trailing throughout the harbour course event.

North realized that he was opposed to the local champions and sailed well without too many hassles.

North and Frequent Flyer will no doubt get better with a few more races under their belts.

Simon Lucas in FForver Young went on to score an impressive victory with Crazy taking second place and North scoring his first points by finishing in third place.
