New App to boost Jetty experience
Busselton Jetty will launch an interactive app next week in an Augmented Reality twist.
Inspired by popular AR application PokemonGo, the ‘LITT App’ is set to act as an interactive platform where people can chase marine creatures along the famous 1.8km stretch.
Jetty chief executive Lisa Shreeve said when Pokemon Go was popular, people from all over the world would visit the Jetty to chase AR creatures.
“We wanted to create something interactive but we wanted it to feature our unique Jetty stories,” she said.
“While going for a walk on the Jetty or a train ride, notifications will pop up at several locations along the Jetty and people can look around to find the AR image,” Ms Shreeve said.
“Once they tap on the image, they are offered a special deal they can accept or reject.”
The Jetty partnered with Perth social media company Live Interaction Trust and Tribe to create the ambitious and high tech addition.
Elements of the app reportedly focus on the Jetty’s lengthy history, including Cyclone Alby and the 1999 Jetty Fire, and highlight the unique marine life.
Visitors will be able to get the app from Monday by scanning QR codes at the Jetty or from the App store.
The augmented reality features will operate between 9am and 6pm during the Interpretive Centre’s opening hours.
