Families in Kwinana are outraged and dismayed by the actions of heartless vandals trying to ruin Christmas for their community.

Teenage grinches have stabbed inflatable decorations and cut up light displays with scissors along several streets, just days before Christmas in a suburban neighbourhood.

The vandals visited at least five homes, stabbing inflatable Santas and taking down reindeers as they dashed through the streets on a Christmas crime spree.

Kwinana resident George Ryan has been putting up Christmas lights for 20 years - first for his kids, then his grandkids, and now - for the little locals who like to look at them.

After this, sadly, he's thinking it might be time to cut with tradition.

“I’m half thinking now not to worry about it anymore,” he told 7News after the vandalism.

One home owner put his lights up for the local kids even though he was going away this year.

Neighbours haven't had the heart to tell him the vandals ruined his display.

“These people need to learn a lesson from it and I think they need to pay people back, and maybe an apology,” neighbour Jackie told 7News.

Police are investigating.
