LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:

* Prime Minister Scott Morrison met general practitioners and the Australian Medical Association officials in Perth on Thursday to discuss the vaccine rollout.

* AMA president Omar Khorshid said the core problem was a lack of vaccine supply, as the Pfizer jab - the preferred vaccine for the under 50s - is made overseas.

* The South Australia government said it will establish two more mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics by early June in a bid to accelerate the rollout across the state.

* A US Marine tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving in the Northern Territory to join the Marine Rotational Force in Darwin and has been placed in isolation at the Howard Springs quarantine centre.

* Regional Health Minister Mark Coulton supported Australian Olympians being allowed to jump the vaccine queue to attend the Tokyo Games in July.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS:

* There have been 1,359,305 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to Wednesday, including 63,633 in the past 24 hours.

* Of the total, 747,972 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 47,640 in the past 24 hours).

* 589,280 have been doled out in primary care (+41,768), and 158,692 in aged and disability facilities (+5872).

* 611,333 have been administered by the states and territories (+15,993).

* 164,855 have been administered in NSW (+4218), 155,928 in Victoria (+3565), 117,763 in Queensland (+2738), 72,263 in Western Australia (+1679), 42,601 in South Australia (+1873), 26,728 in Tasmania (+896), 19,238 in the ACT (+592), and 11,959 in the NT (+432).

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported no locally-acquired virus cases on Wednesday. There were 18 overseas-acquired cases in quarantine: Nine in NSW, five in Victoria, two in SA, one in the NT and one in WA.

* The national death toll is 910: Victoria 820, NSW 56, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, SA 4, ACT 3 (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 138,302,131.

* Deaths: at least 2,973,874.

* Recovered: at least 78,772,759.
