LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS

* Unvaccinated people have been warned they will be exposed to COVID-19 as restrictions ease in coming months, with 70 per cent of Australians aged over 16 expected to be fully vaccinated by the end of the week.

* Unvaccinated Queenslanders have 12 days to get their first COVID-19 jab if they want to be fully protected when travel restrictions are eased on December 17.

* The main cohort lagging in Queensland's rollout are people aged 20 to 39 with the government saying another 400,000 people need to get the jab to reach 80 per cent.

* South Australia's transition committee met on Tuesday and a plan is close to being finalised to ease border restrictions and local COVID-19 measures when vaccine targets are reached.

* As part of the SA plan, the isolation of people with COVID-19 will continue along with their close contacts, but double-vaccinated people are likely to have more latitude when it comes to quarantine requirements.

* WA Premier Mark McGowan is refusing to set a date for the full reopening of interstate borders and there will be no softening of restrictions this year for travellers from NSW, Victoria and the ACT, even if they're fully vaccinated.

* Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has blamed a typo for confusion over what venues are allowed to open on Thursday, leaving some entertainment businesses in a lurch after selling out planned shows that can't go ahead.

* Dedicated pop-up clinics will open in Melbourne offering a safe space for the LGBTIQ+ community to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

* NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant would like to see the state reach 95 per cent full vaccination to protect the vulnerable ahead of a predicted rise in cases as restrictions ease.

AUSTRALIAN VACCINATION NUMBERS

* There have been 32,934,298 doses administered in the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout up to midnight on Monday, including 280,373 in the previous 24 hours.

* Of the total, 19,247,225 have been administered by the Commonwealth (an increase of 184,268 in the previous 24 hours).

* 18,162,176 have been issued in primary care (+183,616) and 1,085,049 in aged and disability facilities (+652).

* 13,687,073 have been administered by the states and territories, including 96,105 in the previous 24 hours.

AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Australia reported 2046 local cases on Monday: 1749 in Victoria, 273 in NSW, 24 in the ACT.

* South Australia reported one new overseas-acquired case.

* The national death toll is 1558: Victoria 983, NSW 535, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 7, ACT 9, and SA 4. Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states.

GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:

* Cases: at least 241,132,000

* Deaths: at least 4,905,000

* Vaccine doses administered: at least 6,654,560,000.
