Geraldton detectives seek community assistance in investigation into obscene act in West End

Geraldton detectives are seeking the public’s help after a man was reported to have committed an obscene act in public on the weekend.

Police are investigating an incident that occurred on Saturday, June 25 about 5.15pm when a man allegedly performed an obscene act in the West End.

It is alleged a woman walking her dog saw the man performing the act in his vehicle near the Point Moore lighthouse and contacted police.

Police believe a man driving a 2006-2010 silver Volkswagen Golf with a sunroof in the area at the time could assist with inquiries.

Detective Sen. Const Gareth Lewis said the man was described as in his mid-to-late 30s, with dark skin, a thick black beard and was shirtless, wearing a cap with navy blue drill pants.

“This is the same area where an offender was arrested and charged for performing similar acts at a phone box,” he said.

Police believe the accused was driving down Marine Terrace between 5.15pm and 5.30pm.

Detectives are asking for anyone in the community to contact police with any information about the owner/driver of the vehicle.
