As fighters gear up for Fists of Fury III this Saturday, another Geraldton star is preparing to battle it out in Brisbane.

There are few amateur boxers who have been busier than young Nagle Catholic College student Frauke Rawlings.

This year alone she has travelled to Adelaide three times for tournaments and fought for a regional state title.

She has been included in the boxing WA future’s program and is the first junior female Geraldton amateur boxer to make the State team in more than 20 years.

On top of her State fights, she has won five of her past six bouts and is going to the Golden Gloves tournament in Brisbane in two weeks.

When Rawlings, who now fights in the 63kg junior female division, started boxing at the age of 12 her goal was to make the WA State team and go to the Golden Gloves.

She has achieved both goals in less than three years.

She has developed strong community links and her dad Iestyn Rawlings said: “She wouldn’t be where she is today without the generosity of the people of Geraldton.”

Coach Jake Peacock said Rawlings was fighting better than she ever had.

“She has won her last five of six and had a massive improvement in the gym the last three months,” he said.

“She’s only young, it’s all about experience at this stage, she’ll go as far as wants to go.”

The Golden Gloves tournament takes place in Brisbane from August 19-21.
