A smartphone and some walking shoes are all that is required for a new discovery trail activity launching this school holidays.

Boulder Promotions and Development Association and Our Gems WA have joined to design an app which will allow local children to participate in a self-guided walking trail along Burt Street.

Called Everywhere, the free app asks users to solve puzzles at multiple locations between the Palace Theatre and Loopline Park in Boulder.

BPDA co-ordinator Corinne Rule said the organisation had been eager to modify its traditional school holiday discovery trail activity to comply with COVID-19 social distancing restrictions.

“We always try to put something on for the school holidays but because of social distancing we have had to really think outside the square,” she said.

“I think one thing that came out of COVID-19 has been the collaboration of working with other businesses ... we have helped Our Gems by coming up with something they can use in their program and they have helped us to produce it.

Once the Everywhere app has been downloaded, users can select the Boulder Promotions School Holiday Activity icon to begin.

The activity starts and finishes at the Palace Theatre, with the trail taking about 90 minutes to complete.
