“It was a glorious day, the sun was out, and there was a beautiful spirit among all of the competitors, it was a nice fun day for all of our girls to go along to,” she said.

“It was purely for that competition and fun for everyone and gave girls who may not be aligned with development or representative teams, an opportunity to go along and experience a carnival.

“That’s the beauty of these carnivals, is that it gives them the opportunity to start those pathways.”

The carnival was an opportunity for older players to give back to the sport, with the BNA 10 and under team being coached by Blackwood Ravens and Bridgetown Netball’s Molly Miller, 15.

The Kearnan team was coached by Kearnan student Abbey Kilrain, 16, who is studying a certificate in sports coaching.

Burvill said it was a great way for netballers to continue giving back to the community.

The carnival was also an opportunity for local umpires to improve their skills.

Kearnan’s Kelsey Fairman, and Louise Baker and Summer Brookes from the Bridgetown Netball Association, all took part in the carnival and gained valuable experience.
