Close contests and plenty of goals in round two of UGSHA

Both women’s A-grade games ended in a draw in last week’s Upper Great Southern Hockey Association round 2 games, with some close results all round in a number of the grades.

Wagin and Robins played out a 2-2 draw with Brooke Lange, Shani Chiswell and Emily Holt playing well for Wagin while the better performers for Robins were Chloe Blight, Chloe Grout and Claire Coffey.

In the other women’s A-grade clash, Williams and Warriors could not be separated, finishing in a nil-all draw.

The two men’s A-grade games were very also close affairs. Only Warriors emerged with the full points.

Warriors, led by Shaun McKay, Matt Hough and Nick Corner, defeated Olympics 2-1.

Codey Watt, Ben Quartermaine and Connor Baker played well for Olympics.

In an entertaining match, All Blacks and Riffs drew 2-2 after strong performances from All Blacks trio Ben Broad, Liam Sweeney and Andrew Bairstow while the best players for Riffs were Rhys Angwin, Kyle Angwin and Brock Francis.

Warriors thumped All Blacks 7-0 in the men’s B-grade competition, as Jack Robinson, Ryan Hough and Josh O’Brien all starred.

Jeremy Wiles, Ryan Marwick and Robert Lee helped Pingelly to a 2-0 win over Williams while in the other men’s B-grade fixture Olympics got the better of Riffs, 3-0.

In the women’s B-grade, All Blacks netted four goals in their big win over Robins with Lucy Ward, Vanessa Perkins and Katie Phillips playing well.

Kandra Pense, Leah Sieber and Colleen Edwards did their best for Robins but they went down 4-1.

Warriors beat Williams 6-3 with Sarah Hennessey, Jude Corner and Chelsea Corner instrumental for the victors.

This Saturday morning an umpiring forum will be held with UGSHA action returning on July 17-18.
