Narrogin’s ambulance services will soon be boosted with the arrival of an extra paid paramedic.

The move is part of a State Government initiative to strengthen country ambulance services and support volunteers, with new paramedics set to start later this year.

Health Minister Roger Cook said the eight paid paramedics would be based in “high- priority areas” in the Wheatbelt and Pilbara, including Newman, Merredin and Narrogin.

Mr Cook said the investment would help support the existing volunteer model.

“The paid paramedics will bolster volunteers’ good work, help improve the ambulance response, and provide greater support to communities who need it most,” he said.
