The ageing Smith Street toilet block situated next to Coles is set for an upgrade after almost two years of talks by the Shire of Narrogin.

A frequent topic of debate within the shire, councillors decided at last month’s meeting to refurbish the existing toilet block, rather than demolish it or rebuild it at another location.

The renovated toilet blocks will be based on the Memorial Park public toilets, with three to four cubicles, all compliant with unisex standard. At least one cubicle is set to meet accessibility standards and incorporate a change table.

Accessibility to the building will also be improved.

The exterior will be rendered to incorporate a mural.
