Work has started on a southbound dual lane on Eaton Drive to meet the growing demand of traffic in the area.

Dardanup shire president Mick Bennett said due to future developments on Eaton Drive, the council wanted to get construction between Millbridge Boulevard and Jindalee Way done.

“We now have the money to build the second carriageway from developer contributions and we thought now is a great opportunity to do it,” he said.

The developments are a part of road works happening along Eaton Drive in the next five years or so.

“We wanted that end sorted for the traffic as we slowly come along and do intersections that require lights or roundabouts,” he said.

Cr Bennett said the traffic was constantly increasing, as to does the population with people moving to the shire.

People are moving here for work and other commitments, and this all lends itself to getting some of this infrastructure now,

Cr Bennett said.

Council staff and contractors will be working in the area and road users are encouraged to use alternative routes where possible.

Construction at the site will continue until March.
