Jesse Hogan won’t make his return from a calf injury against Hawthorn as the Dockers take a cautious approach with the star forward.

And the Dockers injury toll continues to rise with Brandon Matera ruled out of tomorrow’s match at Optus Stadium with a minor groin injury.

Matera is one of two changes for the Hawks match with young defender Tobe Watson dropped after two games for the club.

In better news on the injury front, Stephen Hill (abductor) and James Aish (concussion) will make their return.

Coach Justin Longmuir said it was exciting to see the experienced duo return to the side.

“Hilly will come back into the side, he has rehabbed his adductor and has been flying the last couple of training sessions,” Longmuir said.

“James Aish is the other one who will come back in ... he has operated at full steam ahead this week so it’s good to have him back.

“(The pair offer) a bit of experience and they have been really strong executors of their roles.

“It’s been great to see ‘Hilly’ back in some really good form. He just adds some class to our backline and Aish will return to the wing, where he has probably played his best footy this year.”

Watson and Hogan have been named as emergencies alongside Bailey Banfield and Luke Valente.

As expected, Hawthorn have ruled out veteran Shaun Burgoyne for the Dockers match.

Scans showed a tear in Burgoyne’s hamstring earlier in the week. He will be replaced by Conor Nash.

Bounce down for the match is at 6.40pm.
