Taneale Peschel says her decision to re-sign with Perth Scorchers as an easy one and believes the reigning Women’s Big Bash League champions can build a dynasty.

The right-arm quick, who has taken 39 wickets at an average of 28.6 in 56 WBBL appearances since making her debut in the third edition of the competition, said the group was “hungry for sustained success” after a drought-breaking title last summer.

“I’m stoked to be sticking around for another two years with the Scorchers,” Peschel said.

“It’s a great organisation to be a part of and I thoroughly enjoy being part of the orange family.

There’s still five local spots remaining on the Scorchers’ list, while all three import positions have been taken including returning skipper Sophie Devine and last season’s player of the final Marizanne Kapp.

Peschel felt keeping the majority of last year’s squad together would be important as they hunt back-to-back titles.

“Just retaining a lot of our players, we can start to build on that and build a dynasty,” she said.

On a personal note, Peschel said she would keep improving on last year and the competition returns to a post-COVID normality.

The 27-year-old has had an interrupted pre-season after contracting COVID, but is back feeling 100 per cent now.

The Scorchers’ title defence gets underway against Sydney Thunder at Blacktown on October 16, with their first home game against Melbourne Stars at the WACA Ground four days later.

Scorchers WBBL squad: Mathilda Carmichael, Piepa Cleary, Sophie Devine (NZ - captain), Maddy Green (NZ), Marizanne Kapp (SA), Alana King, Lilly Mills, Beth Mooney, Taneale Peschel, Chloe Piparo.
