Albany 2026: Kremser family among thousands of local families awaiting record-breaking Lighting the Sound show
As anticipation builds for the world’s largest outdoor lighting installation and tourists flock to the region, local families are eagerly awaiting the glow of green and red over Albany’s waters.
Stefanie Kremser said she was “really looking forward” to her and her husband, Jochen, taking their four children to enjoy the Lighting the Sound show during its nine-day run.
“We haven’t seen something like this before, and that we are here in this beautiful spot with beautiful lighting — it’s just amazing, and we are really looking forward to it,” Ms Kremser said.
Ms Kremser said the family had already enjoyed a sneak peek of the lights during the testing period from their homes on the slopes of Bayonet Head.
“We’ve been seeing the green lights and the red beams from (the house) so it will be good to see the actual show,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to the next couple of weeks and we will probably go to some different lookouts, like maybe from (Mt Melville) and in the city and wherever you can see them.
“We went to the First Lights Kinjarling drone show — not the little ones, because we thought it may be too scary for them — but that was nice too.
“This will be different as the light show and it’s quite calm so you can just enjoy it, and maybe have a picnic if the weather is nice.”
Originally from Germany, the Kremsers settled in Albany about a year and half ago after falling in love with the city and its people.
Ms Kremser said she was excited to see tourists explore her family’s new home over the coming weeks.
