Members of the Albany Section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club of WA are gearing up once again to raise money for a good cause at the 2023 Bikers Charity Ride.

More than 250 bikes are expected to form a convoy that will do a lap of Albany in support of the Salvation Army on Saturday.

Organiser Lynton Morgan said there was a big community of motorcycle enthusiasts in Albany.

“Most of those that take part are locals, but we do get some others who come in from out of town with their bikes — like Santa of course,” he said.

The convoy will take off from Parade Street at 10am then cruise towards Emu Point, back to Middleton Road then around marine drive before riding up York Street to arrive at Albany Town Square about 10.45am.

Community members are encouraged to join the riders at the town square to look at the bikes and make cash or eftpos donations to the Salvation Army appeal.

The annual event is in its 37th year and Mr Morgan said the hard work organising it was always well worth it because it was about a bunch of mates with a shared interest coming together to support a good cause.

“I’m always worn out but very satisfied by the end of it,” he said.

“It’s one of the biggest single fundraisers for the Salvos in Albany each year.”

The event helped raise more than $4500 for the appeal last year, with Mr Morgan hoping to reach that mark again.
