IN PICTURES: Community volunteers come together for picnic in the park to mark International Volunteer Day

Volunteers from organisations across Albany have come together for a picnic in the park to celebrate International Volunteer Day at Eyre Park on Friday. International Volunteer Day is an annual global celebration held on December 5 to honour volunteers and raise awareness about their work. About 100 volunteers from different groups like the whaling station, SES, Scouts, the Salvation Army and others went to Eyre Park to celebrate the day, taking part in different activities. Manager of the Albany and Regional Volunteer Service, Sarah Udecz said it was an opportunity to recognise volunteers within the community and for those volunteers to come along and be thanked for the great work they do. “We’ve got live music, we’ve got lawn games.” Ms Udecz said. “We’ve got organisations that have come with their groups to celebrate all things volunteering.”
