The Lower Great Southern Tennis Association was represented by eight players at the 2020 Foundation and D’Arcy Slater cups in Busselton over the past week.

Bobby Hood, Levi Dawson, Calvin Ullrich and Niccolo Lembo made up the boys’ team, while the girls’ team consisted of Clare Hadlow, Olivia North, Olivia Riggall and Adalyn Sharpe.

LGSTA took on teams from the Mid West, Upper Great Southern, South West, Central Districts, Pilbara and Eastern Districts.

Players took part in four to five matches per day across four days in a round robin format, featuring singles matches and zone-based competitions for players between the ages of 10-14.

It is believed to be the first time in five years the association has been represented in the Foundation Cup by a girls’ team.

Hadlow from Lawley Park walked away victorious in the consolation final while North, who hails from Kendenup, won the Busselton Bash consolation final in the girls’ competition.

Bremer Bay’s Dawson was runner-up in the consolation final and Lawley Park’s Lembo was second in the boys’ Busselton Bash consolation finals.

Alexandra Riggall, a local player and mother of Olivia, said it was great to see the kids perform so well.

“The teams did well but there was some great results in the individual matches,” she said.
