Newdegate and Jerramungup claim A-grade premierships in Ongerup Sport Association grand finals

Jerramungup secured a rare Ongerup Netball Association premiership treble in front of a packed home crowd on Saturday as the Ongerup Sports Association gathered for the netball, hockey and football grand finals.

The Eagles won both senior grades and the junior division in a memorable day for the Jerramungup netball community.

After being beaten by Gnowangerup convincingly in last year’s A-grade decider, the Eagles reversed the result and emerged 14-goal victors against the same opponents.

A powerful first half from the Eagles where they scored 18-first quarter goals helped them open a nine-goal lead to the main break before going on to score a mighty 55-41 premiership victory.

Eagles gun recruit Claire McIntyre capped off a spectacular year in the yellow-and-black which included winning the A-grade fairest and best award by adding the grand final best and fairest honour and premiership medallions to her cabinet.

The hosts’ brilliant day on the courts started in the morning when their slow-starting B-grade side recovered from an early deficit to secure a 10-goal victory against Lake Grace-Pingrup.

The Eagles trailed by 6 goals at the first change before a punishing second quarter where they outscored the Bombers 16-7 to set up a 49-39 win.

Eagles’ Taiyana Grace was named best and fairest in the triumph.

The Eagles junior side ended an unforgettable day for the club when they clinched the junior premiership over the Bombers with a resounding 16-goal win.

They outscored their opponent every quarter to prevail 33-17, with Kade Lester named best and fairest on the day.

Newdegate were crowned Ongerup Hockey Association A-grade champions after notching a thrilling 2-1 victory over defending champions Lake Grace-Pingrup.

Ashlee Danvers led her side superbly netting a crucial brace to steer them to a premiership victory while dual OHA best and fairest winner Tayah Medlen was prolific for Lake Grace-Pingrup, along with Lynette Carruthers, and Anna Taylor scored a vital goal.

Lake Grace-Pingrup took out the junior flag with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Jerramungup.

Darcey Pelham netted a sensational brace in the victory and Kade Lester was pivotal for the Eagles.
