Red Tails preparing to headline the NewFarm NewCountry festival with intimate gig at Albany’s Six Degrees

With a big festival slot on the horizon, the Red Tails are getting in the groove with a warm-up gig at Albany’s Six Degrees on Saturday.

The ticketed show in the Stirling Terrace venue’s goldroom comes ahead of the band’s appearance at the NewFarm NewCountry event near Denmark, in November.

The usual line-up comprises Vikki Thorn, from the Waifs, plus husband-and-wife team Tammy and Simon London – with drummer Mark Gretton joining the trio for this Saturday’s outing.

Tammy London said the band would be playing a mix of songs from their individual and collective catalogues.

“It’s always fun to do these shows because they are intimate and give us a chance to engage with the audience,” she said.

“It will be a mix of stuff, the Red Tails’ soul/gospel sound will be part of it but we’ll also take old songs and bring them forward, give them a new life.”

The Red Tails last played together in Fremantle earlier this year so the Six Degrees show will be a vital tune-up for the second NewFarm NewCountry hoedown.

It will be the only chance for an Albany audience to hear the local friends and neighbours perform before their big show.

The Red Tails are headlining an impressive line-up of 21 bands at the New Farm campground between Denmark and Walpole.

The three-day festival from November 6-8 celebrates Australia’s independent music scene and is returning after a successful debut in 2025.

Tammy London released her latest single last month, her track Everything being an upbeat homage to long-term relationships.
