Regional primary school students compete in Fuel to Go and Play Schools Classic tennis tournament in Mt Barker

Young tennis players from across the region hit the courts for the Fuel to Go and Play Schools Classic tournament on March 10.
Held at Mt Barker Tennis Club students in Years 3-6 competed in the interschool competition with teams representing Mt Barker Community College, Kendenup Primary School, Cranbrook PS, Borden PS and Wellstead PS.
Five teams with 22 students took part in the tournament with each team made up of four players who competed in both singles and doubles matches throughout the day.

Kendenup Primary School claimed the overall victory, while Mt Barker Community College finished runners-up.
Great Southern regional ambassador for Tennis West, Ellen Weetman said despite the wet weather the tournament was a big success.
“We had a lot of rain actually but the kids were so enthused just to get back out on the court straight away,” she said.
“We had quite a few of the regional schools involved so it was an excellent turnout.
“It was a really great day,” she said.
Both Kendenup PS and Mt Barker CC have been invited to play in the Academy Plate Regional Finals in Perth at the State Tennis Centre on April 1.
