Timm House bags six goals in Gnowangerup’s round one win over Lake Grace-Pingrup while Boxwood Hill survive a scare from Jerramungup

A six-goal haul from former Geelong utility Timm House guided his hometown Gnowangerup to a round one victory over a gallant Lake Grace-Pingrup in the Ongerup Football Association on Saturday.

House proved the difference as his side claimed a 15-point away win over last year’s grand finalists.

The Bulldogs trailed at quarter-time by two goals after a fast start from the Bombers but the visitors kicked into gear in the second term, booting three goals to hold a one-point lead at the main change.

Six goals to four in the second half helped the Bulldogs run out eventual winners, 10.5 (65) to 8.2 (50) as House booted half a dozen playing as a deep forward.

Hamish Jannings and Scott Anderson joined House in the best players for the Bulldogs.

Returning forward Bodhi Clifton and Jackson Callope booted two each for the Bombers while Mitch O’Neill, Reuben Smith and Jack Carruthers were solid contributors in the loss.

Reigning premiers Boxwood Hill survived a scare at home from Jerramungup, after an inaccurate day in front of the sticks.

Boxwood opened their premiership defence with a two-goal win against a brave Eagles side.

Both sides kicked four goals in the first half but the home side lead by seven points after kicking nine behinds for the half.

The Eagles kicked two goals to one but still trailed the premiers by two points heading into the last quarter.

Boxwood booted three goals in the final term to ensure the 8.14 (62) to 8.2 (50) result.

Nic Bertola and Isaac Baum played big hands in Boxwood’s win. Nic Winters, Kym Brown and Andy Solomon were best for Eagles.
