Ex-Lone Wolf bikie Matthew Floyd to fight divisive commentator Andrew Tate in Misfits boxing match

A former WA bikie is preparing to go toe-to-toe in a blockbuster boxing match with divisive social media influencer and professional misogynist Andrew Tate. One-time Lone Wolf bikie Matthew Floyd is a front-runner to shape up to the controversial personality in a bout that will likely be watched closely by Tate’s detractors and fans alike. Floyd is making a boxing name for himself in Britain and had UFC legend Connor McGregor in his corner when he took on former world champion “Sugar” Shane Moseley in July. Floyd, 36, beat the 53 year old when they fought at London’s O2 Arena in July. The reformed outlaw, whose fighting name is The Jedi, is travelling to Manchester this month to headline a bare-knuckle event with former Olympic boxer James Degale. A fight with Tate would push the gym-owning father-of-four into the mainstream. Before he became a manosphere figurehead, Tate was a formidable kickboxer, taking to the ring under the name King Cobra. He started fighting in 2005 and was a world champion across two weight divisions during a career that took in 30 professional bouts. Tate is facing multiple rape and human trafficking charges, which has caused many professional fighters to shy away from him. His open court cases mean he is unlikely to be licensed to fight in Britain or Europe, with Dubai emerging as the most likely host city for a bout with Floyd. Floyd, a one-time stripper, prides himself on having “never been dropped in a fight”. Shuffled between foster homes, he was sexually abused as a child. As the president of the WA chapter of the Lone Wolf bikie club he exacted revenge by ensuring his gang meted out street justice to paedophiles. One of Floyd’s victims was a registered police informant. “I did six years for that assault which was a lot more than I should have got but the guy’s relationship with the cops meant it was going to be treated harshly,” Floyd told The West Australian in April. He walked out of jail in 2018 determined to get serious about boxing and life and now runs Pinky’s Gym in O’Connor.
