COVID-19 eradication or suppression? Former Australian of the Year and epidemiologist Professor Fiona Stanley will join Jenna Clarke on The West Live today to share her thoughts on the nation’s pandemic response.

The medical expert is noted for her work in public health and was the founding director of the Telethon Kids Institute.

Her research into maternal and child health is highly regarded and her contribution in the sector has led to Murdoch’s Fiona Stanley Hospital named in her honour.

After WA hosted their first AFL game in 10 months at Optus Stadium overnight, 7NEWS Sunrise Perth correspondent Matt Tinney will be on the show with his Queensland counterpart Bianca Stone to fight it out over which State deserves the 2020 Grand Final.

Yesterday, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk made headlines after poking fun at the front page of The West Australian newspaper, which advocated against an “NRL-state” hosting the showpiece.

“Western Australia appears upset with the idea of the AFL Grand Final being played in a so-called NRL state,” Ms Palaszczuk wrote alongside a “tears of joy” emoji.

“But if they can host a State of Origin, I think it’s only fair we host an AFL Grand Final!”

WA Premier Mark McGowan, her Labor Party colleague, was also tagged in the post.

It comes after Premier McGowan and a host of footy legends, have called for WA to stage the event, a view also backed by The West Australian after launching a Change.org petition.

The petition has since attracted more than 10,000 signatures following the all-Victorian clash of Collingwood and Geelong overnight.

Regular guest and 7NEWS State Political Editor Geof Parry will also be on the show to talk about the week that was in WA politics.

Tune in here at 8.45AM.
