Alan Kiplimo: Perth man being extradited to South Australia over alleged car crash murder of Caleb Leriano, 24

A Perth man charged with murdering an Adelaide chef — after his injured body was found inside a car crash wreck — is being extradited to South Australia. Alan Kiplimo, 22, was arrested on Friday over the death of 24-year-old Caleb Leriano in the Adelaide suburb of Morphett Vale on Wednesday. He was apprehended by South Australia major crime detectives, with help from the WA Police homicide squad, and faced Perth Magistrate Court later that same day. The SA detectives presented an extradition warrant to Magistrate Belinda Coleman, who granted their request. As Mr Kiplimo watched on from behind security glass, flanked by security guards and not appearing terribly concerned, the magistrate noted he had only had the opportunity for a brief discussion with a duty lawyer. He was told he would be flown to SA on Saturday and face a magistrates court there on the next sitting day. Mr Kiplimo, from the north eastern suburb of Brabham, did not have details of the charge read to him and was not required to enter a plea. The death of Mr Leriano was initially suspected of being linked to a car crash after his red 2003 BMW sedan crashed into a power pole about 1.30am. But police later revealed that his life-threatening injuries were the result of an alleged assault prior to the crash. Mr Leriano was the sole occupant of the car and died at the scene. SA Police said he drove his BMW to the vicinity of Saphire Reserve for a “planned meeting” early Wednesday before he was found injured inside his car. “The reason for that meeting and what occurred is being investigated,” police said. Mr Leriano’s father, Mike told 7NEWS that his son was a “a jovial young man from Kenya who was pursuing his Australian dream”. “I love him and I miss him,” he said.
