Perth detectives probe after two registered rifles and ‘homemade air gun’ stolen from car in CBD

Multiple guns — including a homemade air gun capable of firing crossbow bolts — were stolen from a car parked in the Perth CBD overnight, prompting a major police hunt. Perth Detectives are seeking information as they investigate several stolen firearms and rounds of ammunition that were taken from a vehicle in a car park on Pier Street in Perth on Thursday or Friday. “Between 6pm on Thursday 26 September and 6.30am on Friday 27 September 2024, unknown person(s) stole two registered rifles, a homemade air gun that can fire cross bow bolts, and a quantity of ammunition, from a vehicle parked in a carpark located on Pier Street in Perth,” a spokesperson said. It comes days after 11 replica firearms and several knives were stolen from a business at the Malaga Markets, on Bonner Drive, sometime on Sunday or Monday. Police say those responsible forced entry to the Bonner Drive business and took nine replica handguns, one AK-47 assault rifle and one ‘Tommy Gun’ submachine gun. “Several knives and an amount of cash were also stolen,” a police spokesman said.
