Antony Fogarty: 35-year-old charged over Gosnells police chase, possesion of drugs, controlled weapon

A man accused of driving erratically and forcing officers to use “evasive action” to avoid being hit during a police chase has faced court. Antony Fogarty, 35, is accused of driving a stolen Holden Commodore on Chamberlain Street in Gosnells about 10pm on Thursday before he allegedly sped away from police. “The vehicle stopped on a cul-de-sac on Ilex Way in Forrestfield and as the police vehicle approached the stationary vehicle, the driver accelerated causing the police vehicle to take evasive action,” a police spokeswoman said on Friday. “The stolen vehicle travelled over a tyre deflation device at the intersection of Welshpool Road and Tonkin Highway, puncturing the front tyre. “The vehicle continued travelling with debris coming from it.” The car eventually came to a halt on Seldson Court in Camillo before Mr Fogarty allegedly fled on foot with his passenger before they were arrested in the yard of a property on Tewson Street. Mr Fogarty was charged with eight offences including breaching a post sentence supervision order, possessing a prohibited drug, possessing a controlled weapon, driving with a disqualified license and reckless driving to escape police. He appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon and was not required to enter a plea. No application for bail was made before he was remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance on December 6. Separately, the alleged driver of a stolen Audi 8K sedan, Carson Woodward, was arrested on Thursday night after he tried to flee a pursuit by running into an apartment complex in Rivervale. Police spotted the Audi — which they said was pinched from a Kewdale property — on the Garrat Road Bride, in Ascot before the driver sped away about 10.05pm. “It is alleged the stolen vehicle continued travelling along various streets before the driver and passenger abandoned the stolen vehicle on the Great Eastern Highway, and running into Leslie Deague Park in Rivervale,“the spokeswoman said. “They were both apprehended by police at an apartment block on Homelea Court in Rivervale.” Mr Woodward faced court on Friday over four charges. He was granted bail with conditions and a $2000 personal undertaking and $1000 surety. No pleas were entered by Mr Woodward and he will next appear in court early December.
