Greater Geraldton’s Buy Local gift card program becomes fastest program of its kind to reach $1m in sales

Greater Geraldton’s Buy Local gift card program has hit a magical milestone, surpassing $1 million in total sales since it was launched in 2021. The initiative is now the 10th program of its kind in Australia to reach the $1m mark, and has also claimed the title of the fastest initiative to hit seven figures. City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune said the achievement reflected the community’s commitment to backing local businesses. “This accomplishment is a testament to us as a community supporting each other,” he said. “Every dollar spent through these cards stays in our region, helping our businesses thrive and creating a stronger, more resilient local economy. Mid West Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Joanne Fabling said she was thrilled to see the program surpass such a significant milestone. “Reaching the $1m milestone highlights the strength of Greater Geraldton’s business community and the willingness of residents to shop local first, knowing their money supports the local economy,” she said. “The primary purpose of this program is to keep local dollars circulating within our economy, directly supporting business sustainability. “With the expansion of Buy Local Greater Geraldton Gift Cards into a digital format, the program now provides an easier and more accessible platform for both customers and participating businesses. “The Mid West CCI is proud to support initiatives like Buy Local that deliver real economic benefits for our community and contribute to long-term regional resilience.” Gift cards are available for purchase online or at participating outlets.
