Expect big launches over waves, barrels, and lots of spray as the best stand-up paddle boarders in WA come to Geraldton this weekend for the State SUP titles.

Surfing WA events manager Justin Majeks said top riders such as Cottesloe’s Susannah Wilson, Gracetown’s Rick Jakovich, Nedlands’ Dave Muir, Silvia De Araujo from Scarborough and Margaret River’s Scott McKercher would be in town to show off surfing’s newest discipline.

“It's looking like an exceptional forecast with a big swell and favourable winds forecast,” Majeks said. “After tough conditions in Mandurah earlier this year, we are very excited to be crowning multiple SUP State champions this weekend. At this time of year Geraldton is ideal for stand up paddleboarding.”

He said Geraldton was synonymous with the SUP since hosting the Australian titles in 2016.
