After a tense time for the Katanning community during their recent fire scare, Westside Carnivals plans to boost the town’s spirit with some old-fashioned fun.

From today until Saturday, Quartermaine Oval will be home to rides, games and a carnival vibe. The travelling carnival company will bring family-friendly fun back to Katanning after their first visit last year.

Organiser Nathan McCartney said they hoped people would come down with friends and family to forget about the recent fire scare.

“We were deeply disturbed to learn of the fire and followed the news closely,” Mr McCartney said.

“We had already booked the event prior to the fire but we do hope that this event may be able to help bring the community together and lift their spirits post-fire.

“We first attended the 2019 Katanning Agricultural Show in October and had such a positive feedback to our equipment that we really wanted to plan out a time to come back and visit.”

Passionate about taking the fun of the fair to the country, regional visits make up more than half of the company’s business. The carnival starts at 5pm today.
