About half a dozen men are believed to be under investigation for allegedly assaulting another man near Katanning’s Federal Hotel late last month. Katanning police say they were called to the Federal Hotel about 8.30pm on Friday, April 23 because patrons were refusing to leave after being denied entry. An altercation escalated and a fight broke out. One man was alleged to have been by booted in the head in an assault that left him with minor injuries. Police are collating CCTV footage and community information as part of their investigation. Katanning Sen. Sgt Carlos Correia said people who caused problems at licensed venues would cop Statewide bans. “This behaviour is certainly very disappointing for police as the community don’t want to see people engaging in these kinds of fights on premises,” he said. Sen. Sgt Correia is urging people with any information about the incident to contact Katanning police on 9821 3800 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
