Business leaders’ forum aims to draw new thriving businesses to Gnowangerup and surrounds

Local business owners and entrepreneurs from Gnowangerup and surrounds will have a chance to hear from industry experts next week at a forum designed to attract new ventures to the area. Industry experts in farming, tourism, mining, government and heavy mechanical will delve into the nuts and bolts of starting a business, with local business owners and regional government leaders Shelley Payne, Rick Wilson and Peter Rundle sharing their expertise. Shire of Gnowangerup community development manager Sarah Henning said the event would encourage collaboration and investment in Gnowangerup and the surrounding area, which she said struggles to attract new business ventures. “We definitely have an issue drawing people to the region to set up their business but once they’re here we find they rarely leave,” she said. “On the morning, we will have successful business figureheads talking and exploring how they successfully transitioned to the area. “This morning will also help people within the region with new ideas that perhaps they may not have thought of to get the most out of their operations.” Situated at the foothills of the Stirling Ranges, Ms Henning said Gnowangerup provided a brilliant lifestyle. “It’s a beautiful part of the world to live and grow your business, with amazing opportunities,” she said. “The scenery is gorgeous and the entire Great Southern is awesome for that.” The forum will take place at the Gnowangerup Sporting Complex on November 3 at 11.45am.
