Carly McGill receives TAFE Katanning campus student of the year award and Andrea Rundle claims dual honour

Carly McGill has been named the TAFE Katanning campus student of the year while local educator Andrea Rundle received a double nod at the recent 2023 South Regional TAFE Awards night. The ceremony was held at the Albany Entertainment Centre on March 21. Ms McGill, an educational assistant at Katanning’s Alta-1 campus, completed a certificate in education support last year and was honoured to be recognised. “I really appreciated studying the certificate alongside working as an EA because the course was relevant and practical,” she said. “It was my first time attending a TAFE qualification so I really did not know what to expect. “It was such an honour to be nominated by my TAFE supervisor because I didn’t know they had awards for achievement.” Ms Rundle was one of four Great Southern campus trainers to receive a trainer of the year award and one of three South Regional TAFE staff members to be recognised with a managing director recognition award for her work in education support. South Regional TAFE managing director Kathy Keay said the night’s winners and nominees should feel proud of their accomplishments. “2023’s South Regional TAFE award winners epitomise excellence in student achievement, customer service and teaching excellence within vocational education and training,” she said. “Their accomplishments not only reflect the outstanding talent cultivated within our institution but also underscore the dedication of our lecturers to deliver top-tier training. “I am proud of the part South Regional TAFE plays in fostering a dynamic learning environment and nurturing individual growth and success.”
