The Katanning community gathered for the annual Combined Churches Family Fun Fair and Carols in the Park at the Piesse Park Amphitheatre on Saturday night. The weather was ideal as families and friends came together to enjoy the festivities. Old McDonald’s Travelling Farm was popular with children and adults alike and the bouncy castle and obstacle course were popular with the young ones. There was a wide variety of food on offer including doughnuts, kebabs, coffee and the Rotary sausage sizzle. Ashley Clarke and Grace Templeman performed a variety of contemporary songs, providing a casual, yet magical backdrop to the festive event. Long-time and new residents enjoyed each other’s company and the warmth of not only the food but that which can be found when people come together to share in the joy of a special community event. Rugs were cast as the sun began to set, candles were lit and glow-sticks were cracked. A prayer was read as the carollers came forth and filled the park with song during the evening.
