A WA charity has come to the aid of Katanning families entering the new school year by supplying 156 students with backpacks containing essentials as part of its Back to School program.

Dandelions, a not-for-profit organisation, relies on donations and the work of volunteers to put together and distribute care packages and kindness kits to organisations and people in need throughout WA.

The school support backpacks include much-needed stationery items, hats and toiletries such as deodorant, water bottles and lunch boxes.

The Dandelions WA initiative has received support from Agricultural Region MLC Shelley Payne.

“Dandelions WA provide an important service to Western Australians,” Ms Payne said.

“The Back to School Campaign will help vulnerable children to start the school year off with everything they need to get them through the year and I encourage local community members to get behind this campaign by ordering new backpacks and school supplies and having them delivered directly to Dandelions WA.”

Schools wishing to request support from Dandelions WA can do so through its website, and donations can be sent to the organisation at Unit 25, 72 Callaway Street, Wangara, WA.
