Ethan Caldwell’s knock guides Broomehill to comfortable seven-wicket victory and ensures they remain unbeaten

Broomehill continued their perfect start to the Great Southern Cricket Association season with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Wanderers in round four on Saturday at Quartermaine Oval. A terrific bowling performance helped restrict Wanderers before Broomehill produced a polished batting display to seal their fourth straight win to start the season. Wanderers suffered their second straight loss, slipping to one win and two losses. Openers Kyle Sinclair and Toby Quartermaine shared in a 39-run opening partnership for Wanderers before Sinclair was caught for 19. Quartermaine followed soon after for 17. Trevor Parminter and Jacob Morris steadied the ship with a 33-run stand before falling for 16 and 15 respectively. Wanderers posted triple figures for the loss of five wickets as Tyron Pinney (17 runs) and Elijah Quartermaine (18) chipped in. But they lost 4-10 to be restricted to 9-117 from their 45 overs. Jack Kennedy did the damage with the ball for Broomehill claiming impressive figures of 3-9 off nine overs, three of which were maidens, while Lewis Barritt took 2-20 off nine overs. In reply, Broomehill suffered an early blow as James Barritt was caught for one. However, Jack Batchelor and Lewis Barritt took their side towards victory with a 50-run stand. Batchelor was removed for 24 bringing Ethan Caldwell to the crease, and he and Lewis Barritt added a further 48 runs to get Broomehill past 100. Lewis Barritt was caught for 36 but Caldwell guided his side to victory, finishing on 3-118 off 25.5 overs. Caldwell was unbeaten on 38 from 35 balls, ensuring his side finished comfortable winners and remained undefeated. Parminter was the pick of the bowlers for Wanderers finishing with 2-28.
