Former grade cricket Mitch Jackson smashes a stellar century to help Kendenup continue their winning form

Former WACA grade cricketer Mitchell Jackson smashed an unbeaten century, to guide Kendenup to their fifth win of the Great Southern Cricket Association season on Saturday. Jackson played first and second grade for Melville in the WACA competition last year but has made the move to the GSCA this season, playing four games so far to average 72 with the bat. Making the move to the top of the order for Kendenup in round seven on their home deck, Jackson smashed 127 not out against Wanderers to help Kendenup set a match-winning total of 7-205. His blistering knock included 12 boundaries and three maximums and he carried his bat throughout the innings, hitting the Wanderers bowlers to all parts of the ground. Jackson’s match-winning efforts were not just with the bat, as he did the damage with the ball as well to help his side finish emphatic 128-run winners. Kendenup were 2-61 after Scott Hillman was removed for 19 but they quickly slumped to 5-110 when Andrew Slade was dismissed for a duck. From there Jackson took control and with support from Dwayne Sobey and Craig Moore the scoring rate rose quickly. Jackson scored heavily late in the innings after reaching triple figures as his side surpassed 200. Peter Robertson finished with 3-35 off nine overs while Ricky Marris claimed 2-20 from eight overs. Jackson ripped through Wanderers’ top order claiming the first four wickets of their innings, to leave them reeling at 4-40. Wanderers lost their final 6-37 at the end and were bowled out for just 77. Jackson finished with the impressive figures of 4-22 off six overs, including three maidens, and he was well supported by Jay Rowles (3-19) and Callum Gribble (2-1). Josh Pinney top scored for Wanderers with 23, Marris added 15 and Kyle Sinclair made 13. Frankland River notched their second victory of the season, beating Australs by three wickets in Frankland River on Saturday. Australs batted first and early on were 2-1 before getting to 4-56 after Kris Norris steadied the ship with 46. However, Australs lost their last five wickets for 32 runs to be all out for 88. Zane Watkins added 19 for Australs at the tail end but Grant Egerton-Warburton (3-14) and Abbas Rostame (2-30) were the destroyers with the ball for Frankland River. Frankland made hard work of the run chase, losing seven wickets. Clinton Masters was bowled for 27 with the score 2-40 and that quickly became 7-54. Lee Casson was at the crease with his side needing 35 runs for victory. Casson made 35 not out to get Frankland home, as they secured a three-wicket win. Norris claimed 3-16 off nine overs with four maidens while David Potter took 2-21. Tambellup won their clash by forfeit over Broomehill.
