Georgina Beasley is helping women everywhere with a podcast to untangle the world of women

Growing up in Frankland River, Georgina Beasley was shocked by what life was like as a woman in the big city. Living and working in Canberra, the questions she had about life led her to start a podcast called The World of Women. “Growing up in the country, my two younger sisters and I were brought up in a community where we were told we could do and achieve anything,” she said. “It really wasn’t until I left the system of education and moved to Melbourne to start my first big-time job in marketing that I realised that not everyone holds those same views. “The beautiful bubble we lived in when growing up in the country burst when I entered the city. “Being a female was no longer something to be proud of and in fact was something that would make life harder — harder to climb the corporate ladder, harder to achieve equal pay and harder to be taken seriously.” Her own battles in adulthood have shown her it is the opposite of how she thought it would be when she was a teenager. At 22, she was diagnosed with endometriosis. “It was during this time in my life that I realised that as a young female, being an adult is bloody hard,” she said. “Information isn’t given to you, you have to seek it out and hunt it down. “Nobody tells you how to ask for a pay rise, how your period should function, how to control and manage anxiety, or how to set boundaries and prevent burnout. “So I want to create a platform for women, to help them on their journey to adulthood by providing empowering and educating information around common experiences we all go through.” Her interview subjects have included Paralympic gold medallist Vanessa Low, who spoke about losing her legs as a teenager and how she has built resilience. Ms Beasley’s goal is to create a space for women to feel empowered, educated and supported through their journey into adulthood. “Hopefully, I can shine a light on the issues women face that aren’t covered in mainstream media and break down taboos surrounding females in regards to periods, sex, money, business and love,” she said. “I wanted to do this because I know I am not the only young female that feels alone in this journey to adulthood.”
