Katanning’s main street has received a dash of colour, with giant pot plants now occupying the town’s business district. More than a dozen brightly coloured planter pots were added to Clive Street last weekend, with Shire of Katanning staff and community volunteers filling them with a variety of plants. The pots make a striking contrast to the main street’s grey pedestrian paths and black bitumen roads. They have been centred around the Katanning Town Square, stretching from the Federal Hotel on Richardson Street to opposite PL Bolto & Co on Carew Street. The project was co-ordinated by the Shire and is partly funded by the RAC, which sent representatives to the planting, along with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal. The next project for the area is a mosaic on the back wall of the stage at the town square, with members of the public asked to come forward with their design ideas. Ideas can be shared by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or texting 0477 493 141.
