Perth rockers Murphy’s Lore made their long-awaited return to Katanning at the weekend for the first edition of the Concert in the Park at the upgraded Piesse Park amphitheatre. A strong turnout welcomed the band back to town after three planned concerts were cancelled because of the Katanning bushfires in 2020 and COVID-19 lockdowns in 2020 and 2021. Murphy’s Lore’s set-list included classics such as Toto’s Africa and Del Amitri’s Kiss This Thing Goodbye. Organisers Dom Pontillo and Doug Cherry were ecstatic the Katanning Lions Club event was able to return with a bang, presenting Murphy’s Lore with a gift to thank them for their continued support of Concert in the Park. The Lions Club is seeking public feedback on the concert to help it come up with ideas for future events. The next Concert in the Park is set to take place on February 12, with Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles tribute band LandSlide to take to the stage.
