The Katanning Leisure Centre was abuzz with Christmas cheer last Thursday as seniors from across the Great Southern celebrated the festive season over lunch.

More than 100 seniors attended the Katanning Hub Community Resource Centre’s annual seniors’ Christmas lunch.

They were joined by Roe MP Peter Rundle and Shire of Katanning president Liz Guidera.

At the free event, seniors from Katanning, Kojonup and Wagin enjoyed a traditional Christmas meal prepared and served by Katanning Senior High School students.

Katanning Hub CRC co-ordinator Katie Wheeler said the event was a festive highlight for the community each year. “Numbers were a little lower than last year due to COVID-19 but it did not dampen the Christmas spirit,” she said.

“Seniors enjoyed fabulous food, company, entertainment, singing and Christmas carols.
