The annual Anzac Day Dawn Service run by the Lions Club of Katanning was attended by more than 300 Katanning residents who braved the chilly early morning at the Prosser Park War Memorial.

Lions member Norm King was the master of ceremonies of the service held at dawn with the playing of the Last Post and the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand followed by the laying of wreaths.

Wreaths were laid by the RSL, Shire of Katanning president Liz Guidera, MLA for Roe Peter Rundle, police, St John’s and Fire Brigade Emergency Services, Katanning Hospital, Braeside Primary School, St Patrick’s Katanning Primary and High Schools, Lions, Rotary and Apex Service Clubs, the Scouts and Guides and members of the public.

More than 20 wreaths were laid as the crowd stood as one to remember the fallen and those who continue to serve our country in the armed forces in Australia and around the world.
