First Nations artists have been invited to submit their designs for the 2023 NAIDOC Week poster for a chance to win $10,000.

The theme of NAIDOC Week 2023 — “For Our Elders” — recognises and celebrates the important role of elders in the family and the community, their nurturing, knowledge, struggle, teachings and advocacy.

Submissions must reflect this theme to be considered for selection.

This year will be the first year that group entries will be permitted.

Artists must be aged 16 years and over.

The NAIDOC poster is an important feature of NAIDOC Week, an eight-day celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture, achievement and peoples, that begins on the first Sunday in July.

Last year the powerful black-and-white graphic work Stronger, by Gudanji/Wakaja woman Rhyia Dank (Nardurna), was selected for the NAIDOC Week poster.

Submissions can be made through the NAIDOC Week website.

The deadline is February 6.
