The Katanning community gathered with picnic rugs and deck chairs at Piesse Park on Saturday evening for the annual Carols in the Park. As the sun set behind the stage and the cool wind blew threw the crowd, blankets and jackets were thrown on and the voices grew louder. Kids enjoyed many games including cornhole, connect four and giant Lego, before glow sticks and electronic candles became the craze. Youngsters also got the chance to dress up in nativity outfits and join the choir on stage to sing the classic Aussie version of Jingle Bells. Carol-goers enjoyed ice-cream and kebabs with many taking the opportunity to display the best homemade charcuterie boards as they sang along with some of their favourite Christmas hits. A prayer was read in the hope of a safe Christmas and New Year before the final carol, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, was sung — a fitting way to cap off a fantastic night.
