IN PICTURES: Weather holds off for 2022 Broomehill Golf Club Open Day

It was a mostly dry day on the greens at the Broomehill Golf Club open day on Sunday. Fifty-six golfers took part in this year’s open day travelling from Katanning, Kojonup, Denmark and Mt Barker. There were seven categories at the event, with Broomehill locals Simon Hanna and Kevin Winspear claiming the combined net victory, while Katanning’s Doug and Emmerson Smith were the gross winners. Broomehill’s Charles Russell and Mt Barker’s Leanne Warren were the individual net winners, while Victorian Gavin Whyley and Mt Barker’s Kerry Steicke were the individual gross winners. Badgebup’s Hamish Thompson and Ethan Caldwell took home the 18-hole ambrose title. Representatives from the event’s major sponsors helped to present the prizes, including Cropline’s Brodie Sutherland and McIntosh & Co’s Ed Bride. “After the gun went off at 11am players enjoyed a chilly but fine afternoon weather-wise and the majority of the field returned to the clubhouse before the rain came down,” club captain Charles Russell said. “My team of helpers is too numerous to mention but they all know who they are. “I congratulate all the winners and hope you enjoyed our golf course, our comradery and our good old fashioned country hospitality.”
