A woman was found with 3.8g of methamphetamine hidden in the waistband of her pants after a traffic stop near Kojonup in May. Joharn Kathleen Cuthbert, 50, appeared in Albany Magistrates Court on September 15 and pleaded guilty to possessing a prohibited drug. Police prosecutor Sgt Dave Loverock said Cuthbert was a passenger in a car on Albany Highway on May 27 when police conducted a traffic stop. The court was told officers found a small quantity of prohibited drugs on one of the passengers. They then took Cuthbert to Kojonup Police Station to conduct a strip search. During the search, police found a clip seal bag containing about 3.8g of meth hidden in her pants. Cuthbert’s defence lawyer said she had stopped using drugs after the offence and engaged with a voluntary alcohol and drug diversion program. Magistrate Dianne Scaddan said the amount of meth was “of concern”. She sentenced Cuthbert to a 10-month community-based order.
